Introduction



 

My name is Lauren Chapman and I am currently living in Nottingham. I am attending Ashfield post 16 and I am studying three subjects including media, photography and BTEC travel and tourism. All three subjects appeal to me in different ways. Media appeals to me as I studied it as a GCSE and I really enjoyed it. this also means that I know the basics of media and my projects that I did during that course like making film posters, magazines and how to analyse clips of film will help me during this course. I also think that it goes well with my other subjects like photography which I am really passionate about. The two subjects link well together and the skills in use in photography will help me in media and vice versa. I feel like I am a very creative person and that will help me in these subjects and will help me pursue the career I want in the future. 

 

I want to pursue a career in the media industry weather it in the filming sector or in another sector I am happy to keep my options open and I think studying media at a level with help me with whichever path I decide to take in the media industry. 

I have lived in Kirkby in Ashfield all my life with my parent and my younger brother. In my free time in enjoy binge watching my favourite shows including pretty little liars, the walking dead and prison break all of which are a thriller/horror genre which is my favourite. Music is also a big part of my life as I love going to concerts and music festivals because I love the atmosphere and the different people that you meet there. My music taste is very mixed and I like many different genres. My favourite artists at the moment is the weeknd , drake, Chris brown and the script. I listen to music constantly throughout the day and my Spotify has a playlist for every type of music/mood.  I also love traveling and exploring new places which I use as locations for my photography. I enjoy exploring the local area and finding new places to shoot but I prefer venturing out further to London, Manchester and Edinburgh. This will also come in handy for media as you constantly want different locations to film in. Also in my free time I like to spend time with my family and small group of friends. As we are only a small family we enjoy having family days out or lazy days where we can all hang out. I think being in a small family I am a very independent person as my mum and dad brought me up like that which will also help me during this course.
